Hi! We are testing out Troop Track after the decision to explore a new software as the one we have is becoming less and less accessible. We noticed that in achievements the ranks all say they are the 2016 version. Does anyone know if there is a way to have the most recent requirements (we believe they changed in 2024) ---

That is being looked at right now. Unfortunately BSA has changed how often they are updating the requirements. The last major revision was 2016, they have made smaller adjustments since then, many have been rewording however some have also included changing the number of requirements. The way TT handled this is in need of some changes so they are looking at how to best accomplish that. All of that said this doesn’t in any way affect the usability of the system, while some minor things might be off you could still record partial completions and once any advancement is marked as complete that is the only information that is uploaded to SB+ is the final completion date. ---

We use TroopTrack for our Pack. Mostly it’s great–calendar, email invites/reminders/RSVPs, ad hoc emails, money accounts all work wonderfully. There are infrequent issues with emails delivery but it usually resolves pretty quickly. The biggest pain points are advancement. They do have Cub Scout Ranks 2024 as separate, but it’s somewhat clunky to use the filters when looking at Badge Book. We also haven’t ever successfully executed a transfer into ScoutBook (required by the scout shop to sell rank badges and cards) using the export feature. Someone usually just goes into ScoutBook and manually completes a bunch of the requirements in there based on our shopping list generated from TroopTrack. The other thing that is somewhat challenging is managing recruiting and prospective family management. We started leveraging the Movo AI tool that national and/or our council has provided. We don’t love how it pushes folks into paying before even coming out–we often slow play registration so they have a chance to fundraise with us, try out the pack, etc. Right now, we do that outside of TroopTrack just because we don’t really want to have to create scouts and adults in order to communicate them–we generally just text with them until they come to a few meetings and commit to joining, and then we create them as Troop Track users. Happy to share other feedback or learn what anyone else does to manage Advancement or Recruiting. ---

I would be interested to hear what your issues are around Advancement reporting from TT to SB+. First please check out this vidoe that Dave created when this system was going live. It is still correct from the TT side, a couple things have been added to the TT side but the process is still basically the same. If you still have any questions please post and I can help walk though the process. I have both a Pack and Troop that have been using this process successfully for several years now, since it was updated from the old advancement system. Balancing time to add vs longevity of user. If you have a good system that is working for you that is great. I agree about the Movo system and BSA really pushing for registration right away, we also encourage visiting several meetings before signing up. I was in there today and there is a check box for Unit allows participation before registation or something like that, I checked it for my unit, not sure yet what that does yet.
