# All day event not showing property

We have a week-long event that has been on the calendar for almost a year now. I am trying to change it to be an “all day event” (versus a time range). I checked the “all day event” button, yet it is still showing on people’s Google calendars as a timeframe.

Yes! The event dated June 27-July 3. Swamp Base canoe trek is the name of the event.

Hi @LoriKuhlmann,
I took a look at that event. Are you just wanting to remove the actual times (start and finish) off of the event on google Calendar? I know that wether there are times or not on google calendar it will still spread the event out across the multiple days that the event is occurring. So it will still show that event being stretched out from the 27th of June to the 3rd of July.
If you could explain more of what you were looking to do I could assist you further.

Yes, the issue is that users are complaining that it is blocking out their entire week on their Google calendar because I set it as a timed event. So, I went in to change is as an all day event (which usually just shows at the top of the day on one’s Google calendar), yet it is not changing on the Google calendars to reflect an all day event.
Hope that makes some sort of sense.

Screenshot of my calendar for the week. See how the Swamp Base event is taking the space for the whole day for all the days?
If is were an all-day event, it would show just above like the “Live Oak” event I have on this calendar. When the event takes the whole day like this, then people who want to schedule an event at a certain time during that day - this format keeps them from clicking on the day/time and creating the event.

@LoriKuhlmann, is that screenshot from the macOS Calendar application? In your original post you said it is showing on people’s Google Calendar as a timeframe but that screenshot looks like the macOS Calendar app.
I also see the same thing in my macOS Calendar App when looking at week view, however it shows up that way if the event is checked as All Day or not. It also appears this way on the iOS Calendar App. The issue seems to be the fact that even a TT event with All Day marked still has a time frame associated with it, the Apple Calendar uses that time. For an event created in the Apple Calendar span and set to all day there is no Timeframe associated with that event.
On Google Calendar in Browser the Range event with no All Day Checked shows up correctly.
I even Exported the different events to text files to show the difference.
This was just a test within macOS Calendar App
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20200808
SUMMARY:Test
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20200803
Here are two examples from TT, the first does not have the All Day Event option set, the second does however in the ICS they come over the same with a time associated with the event.

Yes, now that you mention, that is the Mac calendar. Does this mean that TroopTrack is not able to affect how that appears?

We are still working on a fix for this issue. It’s just that TroopTrack is handling calendar events wrong for all calendars, but our tech team will be getting this sorted out.
