I just enabled text messaging today and was testing it out. After I type a message and select list and click “save” I normally get a new page that allows me to see the phone numbers and click to “send”. I deleted a few before sending, and now I can no longer get to the send page after clicking save. Therefore, I can’t send any texts.
If your message is longer than 160 characters you will not proceed to the next page. It is a bit of a bug and it has been asked before for a countdown to 160, I am not sure what the status of the feature request is. I will inquire. If you shorten your message it should go on to the next page. If that is not the issue and your message is shorter than 160 characters then document and send over to support@trooptrack.com.
well the message was longer, but after shortening it I have the same issue. I can’t get to the preview page. Since we paid for this service above normal costs, I hope this can get addressed quickly. i will send to that email address.
Just to make absolutely sure you are under 160 characters, spaces count as characters as well. As a test just type “This is a test” and see if you can go on to the next page?
“this is a test” works. I finally kept reducing the message and it only worked once I got it down below 100 characters (including spaces). I know the 160 is the normal character limit for SMS, 100 is a pretty short msg. “Pack1455: B&G Sat 11:45am -3:30pm at VFW. Sign up to bring something here: https://tinyurl.com/52u6xxxx NoReplies” was the message that finally worked.
I just looked at some old posts and someone said the limit was 128 characters, I just confirmed that to be true. I am asking the TT admins why that is and if it can be changed.
After finally getting to the send page (under 128 characters) I have “sent” 2 messages today, decrimenting our available messages out of 500 but neither text went out to recipients. The first one was at around 1pm and the second around 7:30pm and here it is at 9:10pm and neither have arrived.
That would definitely need to be sent over to support@trooptrack.com, let them know what messages from Communicate, Recent Text Messages so they can look.
