Payment splitting for an event

One of the perks of selling a certain amount of popcorn is the pack would cover their camping fee. Is there a way to discount the amount these scouts need to pay compared to those that did not sell popcorn when they rsvp for camp?

There is nothing in the system that would allow this specifically. Depening on how you run your Money Accounts you could just make the deposit into the Scouts Money Account, if they pay from their Money account it will still deduct the full amount from their account but there will be a credit so then they can pay the money account balance. I suppose this may not work if you are using one of the payment processors. I have never used PayPal or Stripe with TT so not sure exactly how that works when RSVPing to an event that requires payment, does it go directly through the payment processor or does it still go through the Money Account first?

@Aaron – when using PayPal or Stripe, TT does not send it through the money account. So basically it just handles the transaction directly between the checkout process and the processor.

Joseph – Aaron’s suggestion below is partly what we do. All the proceeds from the fundraisers are deposited into our troop banking account. A portion of those proceeds are assigned to each scout as the amount that they “earned” from helping with each fundraiser and we track that in the Money account in TT attached to each scout. Then when the parent goes to RSVP for an event, during checkout, they see the option of paying from their Money account or through PayPal (in our case). The only problem that we’ve experienced with this is that you only have the option to pay with your Money account if you have enough in there to cover the entire cost of what is in the shopping cart. We had a number of people complain that they wanted to use their Money account to cover a portion of summer camp, and we needed to process those transactions outside of TT, which was a bit of a pain.

Good morning @jp1,
You could allow the accounts to go negative, in that case the parents could pay for whatever they wanted then they would know they have a negative balance and pay to get back to zero. If I understand it correctly there is even a mechanism for them to pay a custom amount through the payment processor that just goes into their Money account. If that is not the case let me know.
