Payments with PayPal

Tyler, can you provide details that will help me troubleshoot paypal interactions?
I have a new button I made from Paypal whose code that works locally but not when hosted on our trooptrack page. The error from paypal indicates an error on the merchant site (trooptrack), but this isn’t much information useful for troubleshooting. ???

Hi Steve,

I have asked our tech team about this and it is due to a handful of security protocols we have on our site. It is blocking 3rd party code from being ran. We have tried to go around this security feature specifically for PayPal, but the attempts to quickly solve it have been unsuccessful. Which is good, because it means the security features on our site are working and functioning well. But now our tech team has to build a custom component in the editor for PayPal buttons.

I will tell the tech team this should be higher on the todo list. I will keep you updated.

Thanks,
Tyler

Thanks for the update Tyler.

I’m just setting up TroopTrack with PayPay, and PayPal is charging me 3.49% + $0.49 per transaction, instead of 2.9% + $0.30. Is there a way to get the lower PayPal rate posted in TroopTrack?

No. This is PayPal’s new rate. We highly recommend Stripe over PayPal. It’s cheaper and easier to work with.

Thanks. It would be great if you could update the fees in the Settings → Online Payments → Credit Card Provider comparison of providers, and in other documentation too. Hopefully it will save the next person the trouble of setting up a PayPal account, before choosing and setting up Stripe.

Thanks,
Jamie
