We prefer TroopTrack; however, it is becoming harder and harder to justify keeping it because we don’t have a way to sync POR and hours ( service, camping, hiking, etc.) As our troop grows, manually adding this information to both systems becomes more time-consuming for our volunteers/parents. Are there any plans to add the capability to upload this information into Scoutbook easily (via report or other method)?
Thanks for your consideration
This question is outside the realm of TT, this would be something BSA would need to implement.
I am curious as to why you would want those items input into SB if you are using TT? I know there are different usage and reasons for things, this is strictly a curiosity question on my part. Thanks.
I am not sure why this is “outside the realm of TT” since they currently provide the report for us to upload awards into SB. There are a few reasons that this functionality would be helpful: For example - this year, there is the America250 award and we are tracking service hours at the troop/district/council level. We track our service hours in TT by the event but to get them into SB for tracking above the troop level requires us to manually enter the information again. We also track PORs and camping/hiking nights in TT because they are used for other scouting awards (100 nights of camping, etc.) and PORs are tracked for time in rank for Eagle and other ranks. It would be great to not have to enter information in multiple places for the scout’s official record to be complete. This helps if scouts move to maintain a complete record. We have used TT for many years and when SB was implemented we believed (and still do) that TT was the better product and did not want to switch. At this point, we have almost a decade of historical info in TT and would like to stay but with more things being tracked in SB, it is becoming a difficult sell to parents/leaders to pay for a product and then have to reenter info into SB for additional tracking. An easy upload from TT would solve that! IMO
The issue is that SB doesn’t accept that information in the form of an upload. The file they do accept is very, very limited, and doesn’t include a bunch of stuff, like hours, and mb requirements, and Leadership positions, and…and…and…
SB would need to create an import before TT can create an export.
