Add CyberChip Recharge

It would be great to add a Cyber chip recharge award to the “others” award page, so when we buy the award we know if it is the Cyber chip or the recharge pin the scout needs. As of now, we have to look back at previous years to see. It takes extra time to do this. Having a cyber chip recharge award would be helpful.

@melissa, will you please look into adding this? Thank you.

@KellyTodd

Can you give me a bit more information? Are there any requirements for the Cyber Chip Recharge? I’d be happy to add this for you.

Yes, there are a couple requirements each for grades 1-3 and 4-5, so would need two different recharges added to awards. I will look up the requirements tomorrow and send you an email. Kelly Todd

These are for the cyber chips, not recharge, those requirements are a little different than the main cyber chip. Though the last website does tell you the recharge requirements too at the bottom of each ages page. These requirements are already included in the main cyber chip award they already have. I want the recharge award, different requirements. I will look up when I can get to computer.

Requirements for 2 new awards for Cyber Chip Recharge awards found on the following website:

netsmartz.org/scouting

Cyber Chip Recharge Grades 1-3: Your Cyber Chip will expire after 1 year. To recharge your Chip, Read Delivery for Webster (on the above website), and then ask your Leader to update your Cyber Chip card (scout must read the card again, date and sign it on recharge line). Once this is done, the award is complete for the Cyber Chip Recharge Award.

Cyber Chip Recharge Grades 4-5: Your Cyber Chip will expire after 1 year. To recharge your Chip, Read Delivery for Webster (on the above website), and then ask your Leader to update your Cyber Chip card (scout must read the card again, date, and sign it on the recharge line). Once this is done, the award is complete for the Cyber Chip Recharge Award.

How do I find the recharge? I can only find the CyberChip Grades 6-8 and 9-12 under Record Progress (Bulk) under “Other”

I know it is there for younger grades in Cub Scouts. You probably need to send in a request to add to Boy Scouts requirements . I did that for Cubscouts Scouts, and they responded quickly, once I sent them the requirements needed to achieve it.

I cannot find a place to track Cyber Chip Recharges for my Scouts BSA Troop. It appears all Cyber Chip Grade ranges now have the same recharge requirements listed below:

Recharging Your Cyber Chip

Note: All Cyber Chips will expire annually. Each Scout will need to go to [Netsmartz (https://www.missingkids.org/NetSmartz) and complete 2 new resources to recommit to net safety and netiquette. Then, with the unit leader, the Scout can add the new date to the Cyber Chip card or certificate.

I have added the recharges for BSA scouts:

  • Cyber Chip Recharge Grades 6-8
  • Cyber Chip Recharge Grades 9-12

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Tyler
