Seeking Online Payment Advice

We are struggling with PayPal. After much investigation, we have determined PayPal is actually charging us 3.49% + $.49 for each transaction. Also this is applied after the TT event fee + charge. So in order to recoup the cost from the families, we would need to charge 3.65% + $.49.
Actual example attached

Example:

  • Event Fee $ 67
  • Plus TT fee set to 2.99% + $.49 which is listed at $2.57
Although the $ TT comes up with is still unknown. I think it should be $2.51 at the most. I have seen other posts on the mystery math but no resolution.
  • PayPal amount used for base line is now $ 69.57
  • PayPal’s fee is 3.49% + $.49 becoming $2.92
  • Sender pays $69.57 + whatever fee PayPal charges sender
  • What we get from the sender is $66.65 ($69.57-$2.92) still not enough for the event.

MY QUESTIONS FOR OTHER TT USERS PLEASE

  1. How to you handle the PayPal madness? Do you use non-profit status with PayPal? Is there another PP or TT hack you use?

  2. For Stripe users, are the fees similar to PayPal? I can’t figure out their fee structure without having an account.

Thanks so much!
Kim
