Still can't figure out Paypal fee calculation - Is there a bug?

… and I like math! Help me where am I going wrong?

My first stop was here: Using Paypal on TroopTrack

But my data is inconsistent with the fine explanations provided there. Here’s my current problem.

We have a winter camping event: https://warrenpack182.trooptrack.com/plan/events/513673

The charge is $60/person.

We’ve got our Paypal configuration set to charge 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

Trying to figure out why we see the following transactions in our Pack Primary Account. It looks like TT is calculating a paypal charge that is LESS ($0.05/person + $0.01) per transaction. See 3 sample transaction after the graphic - the difference is at the end in parentheses.

Has anyone got any idea what is wrong? How can I reconcile when the transaction fee and payment don’t add up to $0 ?

1 person @ $60 : TT calculates $2.04 but payment in Pack account is $62.10 (6 cents)
2 people @ $120 : TT calculates $3.78 but payment in Pack account is $123.89 (11 cents)
3 people @ $180 : TT calculates $5.52 but payment in Pack account is $185.68 (16 cents)

We are seeing the same problem. Very frustrating. I had to tell my parents and our Treasurer to not trust what they are seeing in TroopTrack and instead go to PayPal for the specifics. It is usually only off by a few cents (like what you are seeing), but frustrating that it doesn’t match up.

Just to add some specifics. We were charging $80 for an event. PayPal charged $82.70. Troop Track shows the $2.62 for transactions fees, so we lose $0.08 in the transaction somewhere.

Does anyone know if this was one of the recently fixed bugs? I can’t setup a test to find out…
