Disabling Badges

This is probably a weird one… Our troop is making the transition from old handbook to the new one over a couple of years. Some of our girls didn’t get new handbooks for this year b/c of that. Our question is: If you have a girl who earned Our Feathered Friends, is there a way to keep the new badge from popping up, whether it is Ornithology or Birds on the “Start Achievement” button? The concern we have is that we have is that as girls and parents see the new badge title, they may think that they can earn a new badge when they already have it. There are several badges that are the same badge, they just received new names at the different levels. Sometimes they are the name across the level and sometimes they are not.

Does that make sense?

That’s a really great point. We are going to use the old handbook this year, and switch to the new handbook next year, but I know some people are going to want to work on the new badges, too.

Hopefully the girl will realize that she already has the badge, and will tell her parents that she doesn’t need that one.

Or maybe TT could temporarily edit the titles of the new badges so that it has the old name in parentheses, eg., (2016 “Our Feathered Friends”)?

Hi @SRUEDU,

You’ll need to click the gear icon, then “manage active achievements”. Then you can unselect any awards you don’t want showing up. This will make it so basically no-one in your Troop can see/earn them because they’re not active for your Troop.

@Keener-Trooptrack - We are looking at it from the other way. We’ve disabled all the 2016 badges for now. Girls can earn them but there is a process for it. We are looking at it from the point of Suzy has earned “Our Feathered Friends” and that one is now disabled from the Start Achievements popup. But now Suzy can see the “Birds” badge (as a TH/EX) or the “Ornithology” badge as a Pi/Pa. Suzy can start either of those badges b/c they show up on her “Start Achievements” tab even though she has already earned the “Our Feathered Friends”. Is there anyway for TT to recognize, Suzy earned “Our Feathered Friends” so she is no longer eligible to earn “Birds” or “Ornithology” and doesn’t give it as an option in the “Start Achievements” tab?

Does that make more sense? Some of the badges are going to be the same badge with a different name. We’re looking to see if TT can automatically say, “You’ve earned this so it’s no longer and option on your Start Achievements” just like it does with the other badges. If a girl has a badge already started on her profile, she can’t select it a 2nd time to earn.

Thanks,
Crissi

Hi @SRUEDU,

If I understand correctly you don’t want to see the old badge if someone has earned the new badge or visa versa. Currently TroopTrack isn’t set up to do this, and sees both the badges as two seperate badges, so for now we’ll have to keep them as two seperate badges within the system. They’ll see those new badges, but will have to be aware that it’s the same as the old ones.

I’ll talk to my team about if there’s a way that TroopTrack can link the badges as being the same badge within TroopTrack and removing it from the “start achievements pop up”.

Yes, that is exactly it! We’re hoping to minimize the girls trying to do double badges. But there are always gonna be at least one or two who are gonna struggle.

Thanks!
