Our troop has been using “expired” announcements as a way to reduce the intranet menu, which can be troublesome on a phone when lengthy.
It appears that the strategy no longer works for users without the Manage Announcements privilege. The non-privileged user receives the message “Sorry - you don’t have permission to manage announcements”. That seems odd because I was not using the announcement “/edit” link… just the regular link. Also curious is that I cannot reach an announcement via link through an unprivileged account regardless of whether the announcement is active or expired, even if the announcement is visible on the account Dashboard.
Is there a reason behind the change? May we have the ability to View an announcement without the Manage Announcement privilege, which touts “Create, edit, and delete announcements”?
