"Send Replies to all original recipients" broken

Hello -
Over the last few weeks we’ve faced pretty crippling communication disruptions because the distribution lists created when senders select “Send Replies to all original recipients” on emails do not deliver responses.

Our adult and youth leaders are sending out emails and when people respond, the responses do not get delivered.

The recipient is listed as something like “message_RCDMFlxx6b4B1WC2W213uw@trooptrack.com” and when messages are responded to they do not deliver.

We’ve lost a lot of momentum and traction with events and communications. Enough that our Committee and ASM team is starting to wonder if we need to consider a different solution for email communications.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
Is this being worked on?

I’m going to send this to Dave via email to support as well.

Thank you,
Itay.

@AaronStorey Can you please help here

Good morning @ieshet, do the senders get any kind of bounce response or message back? have you considered using the Chatterbox function for quicker more direct communication?

Hi @AaronStorey - No bounce-back messages - nothing.

We really like to use email (although not to pile on, but formatting of emails has also taken a hit. The WYSIWYG editor is messing with formatting quite a bit lately).

It is a great vehicle for Scouts to learn email etiquette and the ins and outs of thoughtful communication.

I really want to see this issue addressed.

Is it a known issue? I know of at least one more unit experiencing it.

Thank you.
Itay.

@ieshet, I just did a bunch of testing and did not get any of the responses I sent to the generic group e-mail address. This had not been reported here in the community prior to this and honestly it is a little used feature, most users have the message responses go back to the sender directly.

I am thinking this may be related to an issue where messages sent in from external mail clients, (ie Outlook, Gmail, etc) are not getting through. In that case it had to do with formatting the e-mail carriers were adding to the messages and it was causing issues with the TT servers being able to process the messages. Dave has not had any luck getting that to work. This is is similar situation where it is an external e-mail client that is sending the message, it is possible it is the same problem. Unfortunately for now this feature is not working. If this is a different issue perhaps support can look at the servers to see what is causing this issue however they are gone for the day.

In the short term it will require either going outside of TT for some e-mail communication and e-mailing directly between members for collaboration or using the Chatterbox feature.

This is a real bummer.

One of the best features of email communications on TroopTrack is that parents are automatically copied.

When we coordinate events, or are having email discussions inevitably people are left off the distribution list when it is up to each person to add all relevant people on CC.

This is a critical piece of functionality, for us at least, and we’ve trained our youth leaders to rely on this option in email communication to ensure everyone is always copied.

I would love to see if this can be addressed.
Understand folks are out for the day, but would appreciate if it can be investigated in the coming days. It really is key for us to have a means by which to coordinate events, food patrols, PLC meetings, etc. We use email a lot.

I do see this was reported years ago (Replay All option on emails not working? - #8 by Pushkaraj)

Thank you,
Itay.

It is an important feature and will be looked at. Not sure on timeframe. When was the last time you can confirm this feature worked, might be helpful to know if this broke recently, I can provide that to support.

I do encourage you to check out chatterboxes, it could be a great work around in the short term, while this issue is being looked at.

That previous article was a bit different and was fixed, unfortunately not relevant to this new issue.

To be honest, this feature has never worked since I onboarded with my troop. I was told that coming in by the former webmaster, so I just assumed it was a dead feature. But I’ll be interested to see if it’s fixable.
